Cooler Fridge: Offering Convenience & Great Functionality

A cooler fridge is a device that isn’t quite a cooler but isn’t a large scale refrigerator either. Most of us will admit that when warm weather hits we wish we had a way to keep drinks cold while outside. Typically we have used portable coolers to do this but the amount of chill time they offer is limited to how quickly the ice inside of them melts. However this hybrid that’s not nearly as large as a fridge but more capable than a standard cooler is the answer to many people’s prayers.

Typically these are slightly larger than average coolers due to the added active cooling systems. Traditional coolers use passive cooling to keep their contents cool. Active cooling is constant and therefore there is no time limit on how long you can keep the contents cold. Most of these are also slightly heavier due to the presence of the cooling system and require an outlet to operate properly.

However the benefits to owning a cooler fridge are numerous to say the least. As mentioned these are much smaller than traditional refrigerators and they also weigh less. While not ultra portable they can be moved by one person and can be taken on trips or to parties. They come in various sizes and as long as there’s a power outlet available the contents inside of them will stay cold.

Despite these advantages there are a few downsides to owning one of these. The first of which is that these units actively use electricity to keep their contents cool. While it can be said that you need electricity to make ice cubes the amount of energy needed to make a tray of ice in 30 minutes is less than what one of these coolers will consume during a day outside. In addition these units are prone to breaking down due to their complex nature.

There are too many brand names and product models to list here but suffice to say most major kitchen appliance makers also make a cooler fridge. When searching for a unit you typically want to avoid cheap brands but also avoid being taken in by name brands. Some long running names in the industry will occasionally market an average product and then charge more for it because their name is on the box.

The best way to avoid buying something cheap or overpaying for something average is to do your research. Talk to people who have bought units like the one you are considering buying and also read online reviews. Like all products it’s a good idea to compare and contrast before committing to buying something.

There are a few things to do when shopping for a cooler fridge. Most choose to buy their appliances and extras when the summer sales hit but if you need one sooner you can still find a good deal. Shop around, do research, find what works best for you, and then buy it.

Remember that you will need an electrical outlet for your unit to work so it’s advisable to buy a surge protector as well. Power surges can take out any appliance not just electronics and a small fridge isn’t something you can replace at the drop of a hat. Remember that even though these units have an active cooling system you shouldn’t leave them sitting in direct sunlight for long.
